British Palestinian Committee releases report accusing Labour of being “Party to Genocide”
The British Palestinian Committee (BPC) has released a new report sharply criticising the Labour government’s approach to Palestine over the past year, accusing it of complicity in atrocities in Gaza.
The report, titled Party to Genocide, reviews government policy since the Starmer administration took office in November 2024. Its publication coincides with the Labour Party conference, where party officials blocked more than 30 Palestine-related motions put forward by members.
According to the BPC, while the government has made “limited steps” towards accountability, these are described as “notable less for their substance than for their inadequacy in meeting the UK’s obligations and their insignificance in the face of the scale of atrocities in Gaza.”
The report stresses that any shifts in policy have only come about “under sustained pressure from nationwide mobilisation and strong criticism of government policy both within Parliament and across civil society.”
The BPC’s intervention comes amid growing pressure on Labour’s leadership over its handling of Palestine. The organisation reiterated its call for the government to uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and demanded an immediate end to all forms of support for Israel. It further urged the imposition of comprehensive sanctions and backing for “genuine accountability” for decades of violations, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.
