Shoplifters on the Rise as Food Prices Soar: Supermarkets Fight Back with Alarms and Stickers
Food prices have reached record highs over the last few months and this has been linked to the rise of shoplifting cases.
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) reported a 24% rise in shoplifting offences in England and Wales over the past year
Photos have taken by Daily Mails correspondent that show a range of anti-shoplifting measures being taken at different supermarkets with one of the most common ones being security tags or stickers.

The “security protected” tags or yellow stickers activate an alarm if someone attempts to walk out of the store without paying for the item they’re attached to. Staff remove the tags after the items are paid for.
However, it was worth noting that security tags are often applied by individual supermarkets – and not a nationwide measure – and stores may add tags to products they may have noticed have been going missing more often.
