28 WORKERS BURIED ALIVE IN DRAGADOS MEGATUNNEL COLLAPSE

WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES –

A massive underground shaft operated by Dragados Mining & Boring Co. has collapsed beneath Wilmington, trapping as many as 28 workers hundreds of feet below the surface. Emergency responders describe the scene as “chaotic, unstable, and unlike anything we’ve faced.”

The collapse occurred just after 2:00 PM near Figueroa Street, in what officials now confirm was not a standard municipal infrastructure project—but part of a deep-bore tunneling operation run by one of the world’s largest subterranean contractors. Dragados, with over 1,500 miles of tunnel projects in 19 countries, has been tight-lipped about the nature of their work beneath Los Angeles.

The LAFD Urban Search & Rescue Task Force is on-site, deploying specialized seismic scanners and high-angle rope teams. Helicopters circle overhead as officials prepare for a rescue operation that could stretch into days.

“There’s one way in,” said Battalion Chief Erica Salgado. “And right now, there’s no way out.”

What exactly was Dragados building beneath the city? Why the secrecy?

City officials and federal safety investigators are launching an immediate probe. Rumors of classified infrastructure and foreign contracts are already beginning to swirl online.

This is a developing story. Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
