New York / New Jersey
A landmark exhibition tracing the historical depth of Turkish-American relations has opened in New York and is set to travel to New Jersey later this month. Titled “America in Turkey: 1910-1970”, the exhibition offers a rare glimpse into six decades of diplomatic, cultural, and social ties between the two nations.

The project, developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sefer Darıcı and curated by Dr. Özgenur Reyhan Güler, showcases an impressive collection of archival documents, press clippings, and records of cultural events. Visitors can explore how Turkey and the United States perceived each other throughout the 20th century and discover the shared historical memory connecting the two societies.

New York Debut

The exhibition opened on September 13, 2025, at the Turkish House (Türkevi) in New York. It coincides with the International Media Friendship Awards, organized by the Global Journalists Council. Open until September 20, the New York leg highlights the role of the press and diplomacy in shaping relations between Ankara and Washington.

Extending to New Jersey

Following its debut, the exhibition will move to Paterson Museum (2 Market St, Paterson, NJ) from September 21 to 24, 2025. Home to one of the largest Turkish-American communities, New Jersey will host the exhibition through the support of the Turkish American Federation of Associations (TADF), led by President Gülay Aydemir.

TADF Vice President Zuhal Özgün emphasized that bringing the exhibition to Paterson is not only a cultural event but also a way of strengthening diaspora identity and preserving heritage for future generations.

A Bridge Between Cultures

By presenting a wide spectrum of material—from diplomatic documents to cultural artifacts—the exhibition sheds light on both the political and societal dimensions of bilateral relations. Organizers hope it will foster greater understanding and dialogue between Turkish and American communities today.
