Turkish-Scottish Chamber of Commerce Represents Türkiye at Edinburgh’s 900th Anniversary Celebrations

As part of the historic People’s Procession held for Edinburgh’s 900th anniversary, the Turkish-Scottish Chamber of Commerce took part for the very first time, proudly representing Türkiye.

Led by President Şahin Vaha Fırat, the delegation marched with their banners and drew significant attention throughout the event.

Under Fırat’s leadership, the Turkish-Scottish Chamber of Commerce continues to serve as the voice of the Turkish community in Scotland. By joining the celebrations marking the city’s 900-year history, the Chamber once again highlighted the friendship between Türkiye and Scotland.

In his statement, President Fırat expressed his pride that Türkiye was officially represented in such a historic event for the first time. “This was truly a historic moment for us. We received a great deal of positive feedback during the procession. It was very meaningful both for our community and for the bonds between our two countries,” he said.

Fırat also emphasized the significance of marching with the Turkish flag, noting that participation in the event held a special meaning for them. “We would have loved to see wider representation from all parts of the Turkish community, including Turks living in other parts of the UK. Next year, we aim for even stronger participation in unity and solidarity,”he added.

By taking part in Edinburgh’s historic procession, the Turkish-Scottish Chamber of Commerce has made an important step on behalf of the Turkish community in Scotland. Carrying the flags of both nations side by side, the Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to building cultural and commercial bridges between Türkiye and Scotland in the future.
