Reports: US proposes comprehensive plan to end Gaza war
According to media reports, the United States has put forward a wide-ranging proposal aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip and paving the way for a post-war political and humanitarian framework.
The reported plan includes the following key elements:
-
Prisoner Exchange: All Israeli captives would be released within 48 hours, in return for the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, including 100 to 200 serving life sentences.
-
Humanitarian Aid: Immediate and unrestricted aid would be delivered to Gaza through the United Nations and international organizations. The existing US humanitarian aid fund for Gaza would be closed.
-
Disarmament: Hamas’ weapons would be collected by a joint Arab and international force.
-
Political Guarantees: Washington would commit to preventing Israel from annexing the West Bank.
-
Israeli Withdrawal: Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from the Gaza Strip according to a set timetable.
-
Interim Governance: Administration of Gaza would be transferred to an international Arab body, in partnership with the Palestinian Authority (PA), for a limited period. A Palestinian committee elected by the PA would manage daily affairs.
-
Security Arrangements: Palestinian security forces, overseen by Arab and international supervision, would maintain order in Gaza. Additionally, a demilitarized buffer zone, 500 to 1,000 meters wide, would be established around the enclave.
-
Reconstruction: Gaza would undergo a reconstruction process expected to take more than five years, funded and managed by Arab and international donors and institutions.
-
Hamas Leadership: Hamas leaders would reportedly be offered amnesty in exchange for withdrawing from Gaza and surrendering their weapons.
If implemented, the proposal would represent one of the most significant diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict since the start of the war. However, it remains unclear whether all parties will agree to the outlined terms.
