Trump Slams Global Carbon Tax proposal at International Maritime Organization

LONDON — Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump issued a fiery statement today condemning the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) upcoming vote on a proposed global carbon tax on shipping.

In a post shared on his social media account, Trump declared that the United States “will NOT stand for this Global Green New Scam Tax on Shipping,” calling the initiative an attack on American consumers and a move to create what he described as a “Green New Scam Bureaucracy.”

“We will not adhere to it in any way, shape, or form,” Trump wrote. “We will not tolerate increased prices on American consumers OR the creation of a Green New Scam Bureaucracy to spend YOUR money on their Green dreams. Stand with the United States, and vote NO in London tomorrow!”

The International Maritime Organization, headquartered in London, is set to vote this week on a global carbon levy designed to curb greenhouse gas emissions from the shipping industry—one of the world’s largest sources of pollution.

Trump’s comments signal renewed opposition to international climate agreements and global environmental regulations, echoing his previous criticism of the Paris Climate Accord during his presidency.

The outcome of the IMO vote is expected to have wide-ranging implications for global trade, energy policy, and climate initiatives.
