Home Office Minister Rebukes Reform UK After Mocking Social Media Post

A social media exchange between the Home Office minister Shabana Mahmood and Reform UK drew attention on Monday after the party shared a digitally altered image appearing to mock the minister.

Reform UK posted the image with the caption, “Good morning, @ShabanaMahmood.” The edited picture shows a woman—who cannot be identified—sitting on a bed in a bedroom decorated with Reform UK merchandise, flags, and large posters of a prominent Reform UK figure.

Mahmood replied sharply, writing: “Over my dead body.”

The image, presented in a humorous or provocative tone, appears to depict an imagined scenario in which the minister is surrounded by Reform UK branding, including a shirt printed with the surname of the party’s leader, miniature political memorabilia, and a collection of party-themed décor.

The exchange quickly gained traction online, with supporters and critics of both sides reacting to the unusually direct tone. Reform UK has increasingly used meme-style content in recent months as part of an effort to broaden its online engagement.

Mahmood, who oversees the Home Office brief, has frequently clashed with Reform UK on immigration and policing, areas where the party has positioned itself as a hard-line alternative to the government. Her response suggests the latest post struck a nerve in an already heated political environment.

Neither Mahmood nor Reform UK has issued any further comment following the viral interaction.
