Canada is lifting all sanctions it imposed on Syria during the previous Assad government’s term.

The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement: After an extensive review, the Canadian government has removed Syria from the list of foreign countries supporting terrorism in Canada under the State Immunity Act, and has also removed Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham from the list of terrorist entities under the Canadian Penal Code.

These decisions were not made lightly. The safety and security of Canadians will remain a top priority for the Canadian government.
