Afghanistan Exports locally manufactured batteries to Gulf Markets for the first time

Herat province has recorded a milestone in Afghanistan’s manufacturing sector with the first-ever export of domestically produced batteries to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

According to officials, ten containers of batteries, weighing a total of 27 tons and valued at approximately USD 400,000, were shipped from Herat to the two Gulf countries. The batteries were manufactured by Green Energy Plus, a local company operating in the western province.

The company currently employs around 550 workers and has a daily production capacity of 4,000 batteries, highlighting the growing role of local industries in job creation and economic activity.

Industry representatives say Afghanistan has moved beyond self-sufficiency in battery production and has now entered the export phase. The expansion of manufacturing facilities across the country has created employment opportunities for thousands of people.

At present, 11 battery manufacturing factories are operating nationwide, collectively producing more than seven million batteries each month. Officials view the latest export as a positive step toward strengthening Afghanistan’s industrial base and expanding its presence in regional markets.
