UK MP Ed Davey:”Trump most corrupt president”
By Alpaslan Düven/London
London — British Member of Parliament Ed Davey launched a blistering attack on former U.S. President Donald Trump, labeling him “the most corrupt president America has ever seen” and accusing him of behaving like an “international gangster” during a speech that has sparked sharp reactions on both sides of the Atlantic.
Speaking in Parliament, Davey condemned what he described as Trump’s aggressive foreign policy posture and alleged threats toward U.S. allies.
“President Trump is acting like an international gangster,” Davey said. “He’s threatened to trample over the sovereignty of an ally, talked about ending NATO altogether, and is now threatening to hit our country and seven European allies with outrageous, damaging tariffs unless he gets his hands on Greenland.”
Davey warned that the situation represents a critical turning point for global stability.
“This is an incredibly grave moment for the United Kingdom, Europe, and the world,” he continued. “He is a bully. The most corrupt president the United States has ever seen.”
The Liberal Democrat leader went even further, suggesting—sarcastically—that there are only two ways to get Trump to reverse course.
“So there are only two ways to get him to back down,” Davey said. “Bribing him with a new jet, perhaps, or a few billion in his crypto account.”
Davey’s remarks come amid renewed debate in Europe over transatlantic relations and concerns about the future of NATO. While Trump has previously denied seeking to undermine the alliance, his past comments questioning NATO’s value and demanding greater financial contributions from member states have raised alarm among European leaders.
Political analysts say Davey’s speech reflects growing unease in the UK and across Europe about the potential return of Trump to the global stage. His comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing both praise and criticism.
Supporters applauded Davey for what they see as a blunt and necessary warning about Trump’s leadership style, while critics accused him of inflammatory rhetoric that could strain diplomatic ties.
Trump’s representatives have not yet issued a response to Davey’s remarks.
As tensions continue to simmer over trade, security, and global cooperation, Davey’s speech underscores the fragile state of international relations—and the deep divisions surrounding Trump’s legacy on the world stage.
