Zelal Gökçe Releases New Single ‘NÎNNO’, Blending Kurdish Musical Heritage with Electronic Sounds

Kurdish singer and musician Zelal Gökçe has released her new single, NÎNNO, which brings a traditional Kurdish song from the Erivan repertoire together with contemporary electronic production.

The track’s official music video is also available online.

A graduate of Istanbul Technical University’s Turkish Music State Conservatory, Gökçe has developed a distinctive musical approach rooted in Kurdish vocal traditions and shaped by a range of languages and musical cultures. Her repertoire spans several Kurdish dialects, as well as Armenian and Turkish.

Throughout her career, Gökçe has participated in a number of musical projects, including Koma Azad, Koma Asmin, Şahiya Stranan, Homegrown Istanbul and Ten Songs in Ten Languages. These collaborations have contributed to a body of work that explores different musical traditions and forms of expression.

Gökçe released her debut solo album, Solîn, in 2012. She has since continued her musical journey through independent singles and collaborations, including Fîncan. Her performances have taken her across Türkiye and Europe, while her contribution of “Zerê Zerê Zera Keyê” to director Kazım Öz’s film Zer has also connected her work with cinema.

With NÎNNO, Gökçe revisits a traditional song from the Kurdish musical heritage of Erivan, combining its traditional roots with electronic arrangements. The release reflects an approach that brings established musical traditions into dialogue with contemporary sounds.

The single and its official music video are now available, alongside the track on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming platforms.
