During the high-level talks, Putin emphasized the importance of a “just and lasting peace” in the Middle East and reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel remains the only viable path to achieving regional stability.

“We continue to believe that the two-state solution, grounded in the principles of international law and the relevant UN resolutions, is the most effective and fair way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian issue,” Putin said, according to a Kremlin statement.

President Abbas expressed appreciation for Russia’s diplomatic support and called on the international community to increase pressure for the recognition of Palestinian statehood and an end to Israeli occupation.
