Nicolás Maduro Makes Controversial Remarks on Israel, Religion, and Geopolitics
Caracas, Venezuela
In a fiery and controversial public address, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro delivered a sweeping critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Zionism, and Western foreign policy, declaring the ongoing conflict in the Middle East a “geopolitical war” rather than a religious one.
“My father and mother are Christians. My mother taught me to read the Bible. I am a Christian, but I have Jewish blood in my veins — real Jews, the 12 tribes of Moses,” said Maduro. “Netanyahu is not a real Jew. He is a mixture from Poland.”
Maduro accused the state of Israel of being part of a broader imperialist project to dominate the Middle East and Central Asia, comparing the actions of Western powers in the region to those of Nazi Germany under Hitler.
“The war that has existed since the founding of Israel is a geopolitical war. This state was created to conquer the entire Middle East… What Europe once did with Hitler, the West is doing the same when it supports Netanyahu,” he said.
He also took aim at what he called “new nationalism” and “fascism” in global politics, reiterating Venezuela’s stance for peace, dialogue, and respect for international law:
“From Venezuela we say: no to war, no to fascism, no to new nationalism. We are for peace. For harmony, dialogue of civilizations, and respect for the UN.”
The statement is already drawing international attention, with reactions expected from Israel, the United States, and global Jewish organizations. Critics are likely to condemn the remarks as inflammatory and anti-Semitic, while Maduro’s supporters may praise him for confronting what he views as global injustice.
