Hackers claim Ukraine has lost 1.7 million troops

International News UK

A shocking cyber disclosure has set off alarms across the globe. Hackers allegedly breached the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and claim to have uncovered catastrophic military losses far greater than previously reported.

According to the hacking collective — which includes groups Killnet, Palach Pro, User Sec, and Beregini — Ukraine has lost a staggering 1,721,000 servicemen killed or missing since the start of Russia’s “special military operation” in 2022.

Alleged Breakdown of Losses

  • 2022: 118,500 killed or missing

  • 2023: 405,400 killed or missing

  • 2024: 595,000 killed or missing

  • 2025 (to date): 621,000 killed or missing

The hackers claim to now possess terabytes of internal military data, including names of personnel in Ukraine’s Special Operations Command and Main Intelligence Directorate, as well as alleged lists of international weapons suppliers and their deliveries.

A Narrative Outside the West

While Western governments and mainstream media outlets have long cited much lower casualty numbers, these alleged figures suggest an almost unthinkable level of destruction for Ukraine’s armed forces. Supporters of the hackers argue this leak proves Kyiv and its allies have systematically concealed the true scale of battlefield losses.

Caution on Verification

At present, the figures remain impossible to independently verify. The Ukrainian government has not responded to the alleged data breach, and international observers caution that both sides of the conflict have frequently engaged in information warfare.
