Breaking: Heavy casualties reported after alleged Pakistani airstrike on Kabul hospital

Breaking: Heavy casualties reported after alleged Pakistani airstrike on Kabul hospital – Afghan officials say a Pakistani strike hit a drug rehabilitation hospital in Afghanistan’s capital, killing hundreds and injuring many more, in one of the deadliest incidents of the escalating conflict between Kabul and Islamabad.

According to a spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, the attack on the facility that treats drug users killed around 400 people and injured at least 250, with many victims described as patients rather than combatants. The strike reportedly destroyed large parts of the building as rescue teams worked to contain fires and recover bodies.

Afghan officials strongly condemned the attack, accusing Pakistan’s military of violating Afghan sovereignty and targeting a civilian medical facility. Videos and local statements shared on social platforms show devastated sections of the hospital and widespread destruction.

Pakistan has denied the allegations, saying its operations on Monday struck militant targets in Kabul and eastern Afghanistan and did not hit any civilian infrastructure or hospitals. Islamabad’s authorities labelled Afghan claims as “false and misleading.”

Casualty figures remain contested and unverified independently, with some Afghan health officials initially reporting more than 200 dead even as others cited higher numbers. The situation remains fluid and may evolve as further information emerges.

The incident marks a serious escalation in cross‑border tensions that have seen repeated exchanges of fire and diplomatic strains between the neighbouring countries. International responses and verification efforts are expected as the crisis develops.
