Türkiye, UK Sign Strategic Partnership Framework Agreement
London — Türkiye and the United Kingdom have signed a Strategic Partnership Framework Agreement, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations across a wide range of sectors.
The agreement was signed in London by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, officials said.
The framework document sets out a roadmap to deepen cooperation in key areas including defense and security, trade and investment, energy, climate change, and science and technology. It also aims to enhance coordination between the two countries on regional and global issues.
Officials described the agreement as a move to place Türkiye–UK relations on a more structured and long-term footing. Rather than focusing on a single initiative, the framework establishes a broad basis for sustained collaboration.
Both countries are longstanding allies, particularly within NATO, and maintain strong economic ties. The new agreement is expected to further boost trade volume and expand cooperation in strategic sectors.
The signing is seen as ushering in a new phase in relations between Ankara and London, with both sides signaling a commitment to closer and more comprehensive partnership in the years ahead.
