TÜRGAD UK Representative Honoured with International Humanitarian Peace Award in London
The International Humanitarian Peace Award 2026, organised by the Institute of International Peace Leaders (IIPL) and LOB’IN International under the theme “Together for Peace, Humanity and Global Solidarity”, was held in London.
The prestigious summit, hosted at London’s historic Naval and Military Club, brought together prominent figures from around the world to discuss peace, diplomacy, humanitarian values, sustainable development and international solidarity.
As part of the ceremony, Alpaslan Düven, UK Representative of TÜRGAD (Türk Dünyası Radyo-TV Gazeteciler Derneği / Association of Turkic World Radio-TV Journalists), was presented with the “International Humanitarian Peace Award” for his contribution to journalism, international communication and the promotion of dialogue and humanitarian values.
The event highlighted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the vision of the UN Global Compact, bringing together senior representatives from more than 20 countries.
Ministers, members of parliament, diplomats, academics, international business executives, religious leaders and opinion leaders from countries including Türkiye, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Liberia, Nigeria, France, Jordan, Italy and The Gambia attended the event.
“The language of peace is universal”
Speaking after receiving the award, Alpaslan Düven said he was deeply honoured to be recognised for his contribution to the values of peace, humanity and international solidarity.
Düven emphasised that journalism is not simply about reporting events, but also plays an important role in helping societies and cultures understand one another and building bridges between communities.
“I believe that universal values such as peace, humanity and solidarity are more important than ever today. As a journalist, I see it as a responsibility to contribute to a better understanding between different societies, to highlight our shared human values and to bring human stories beyond borders,” Düven said.
Düven described the award as a great honour and a recognition of the importance of journalism in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding.
“I accept this distinguished award with great honour and gratitude. For me, this recognition represents not only a personal honour but also a meaningful appreciation of the values that journalism can help promote. Bringing people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds together through dialogue is one of the most important contributions we can make to a more peaceful world,” he said.
Emphasising the significance of the international gathering, Düven added:
“Seeing people from different parts of the world come together under one roof to promote peace and solidarity is deeply meaningful. The language of peace is universal, and I believe every effort that strengthens this language is valuable. I am proud to receive this award in London and to continue contributing to journalism with a strong belief in dialogue, humanity and international cooperation.”
Global participation
The International Humanitarian Peace Award 2026 summit featured discussions on strengthening global peace, protecting humanitarian values, advancing sustainable development and fostering international cooperation.
The event brought together senior representatives from more than 20 countries, including Türkiye, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Liberia, Nigeria, France, Jordan, Italy and The Gambia.
Hosted at the historic Naval and Military Club in London, the summit provided an international platform for ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, academics, business leaders, religious figures and opinion leaders to exchange views and reaffirm their commitment to peace, humanity and global solidarity.
